PRESS RELATIONS INFORMATION
Information for members of the media on how to get in touch with the right person

World Fathers Union has no centralised press office because we deal with media in many different countries and regions. What we do have is a number of regional spokesmen, and a duty press coordinator on call 24/7 who is charged with making sure any accredited member of the press can be put in contact with the appropriate person. We take establishing and maintaining good working relations with reporters very seriously.

The most reliable way to get in touch with the coordinator is by e-mail through this website. Postal mail sent to our office in Nova Scotia, Canada, must be forwarded manually to the proper person, who may very well be thousands of kilometres away. This can take weeks or longer.

E-mail to the press coordinator's box is checked at least once every 24 hours, and often more frequently than that. We ask you to write "PRESS INQUIRY" on the Subject line of your message, and flag it as a  'High Priority' message. Please provide complete contact information for reaching you at your organisation, as well as a way to reach you after hours. (Virtually all of our volunteer spokesmen have full-time jobs, and for some it is not possible to respond by telephone during normal office hours.) As far as possible, please provide telephone numbers which go direct to you and not to your office voice-mail. We know that lengthy games of 'telephone tag' won't help you do your job any more than it will help us.

If you do not require an interview but only need clarification, additional information, or a printed statement, please indicate that in your message and a written reply will go out to you by e-mail on the same day it was received.

Confidentiality of sources

World Fathers Union does not condone or permit any member to engage in illegal activities of any sort. However, due to the very real risk of illegal retribution against Union members by the abusive judges targeted in Project SPOTLIGHT investigations, we must ask you to respect the confidentiality of sources. For radio or television interviews, we may ask you to disguise voices and pixelate faces. Print media will be asked to attribute all statements to the spokesman's member identity.

If you are 'on Deadline'...

We are experiencing technical difficulties with our toll-free telephone line at the moment. We apologise for the inconvenience. For all press inquiries, please use the e-mail address above to reach us. We hope to resolve this quickly. Thank you for your understanding.

We understand that the press frequently operates on tight deadlines, and that the delay which could be incurred by using e-mail might occasionally present a problem. The toll-free number below works from anywhere in North America, and links to the duty press coördinator's pager wherever he is. Pages should generate a call-back to you within a few minutes. (We apologise for not having telephone service available from other regions; unfortunately the cost of service on a world-wide basis is beyond the Union's means at present.)

Duty Press Coordinator (Deadline Pager):

(866) 938-3237

(866-WFU-DADS)

Note that the duty coordinator is not always the same person, so please leave your full area code with a direct line phone number at which you can be reached. (If you do not have a direct number, please enter your extension number after the main switchboard number.)

Most calls to the pager are returned within 3-4 minutes. If you do not receive a call-back within 15 minutes of your page, please try again. (If a second attempt is not answered, this means the coordinator on duty is not able to return your call immediately for some reason, but will call you back as soon as possible.
