Gilmer May 31, 2007, WVUA-TV (Tuscaloosa, AL) (USA)---If you drove around downtown Tuscaloosa today, you may have seen a man with a poster about fathers’ rights. Steven Kneussle has spent the last two days walking around the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse with a sign that reads: “Fathers’ Rights Movement… New Laws Needed… I love my kids.” He wants to see new laws put in place to protect the father’s right to be involved in his child’s life after divorce. Kneussle plans to work with women’s rights and fathers’ rights groups to try to change the visitation and child support laws in the family law system. Kneussle says, “I would like to see laws that protect a father’s visitation rights. I would like to see laws that more fairly administer child support. Some fathers should be paying more; some fathers should be paying less. The way it is right now, it’s not based on accurate economic data.” Kneussle hopes to gather enough people and receive the proper permits to hold a rally in front of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse on Father’s Day. |
