The Telegraph said the parliamentary leader blamed the shootings on family breakdowns, saying that the presence of steady fathers could have potentially saved the three teens from being shot. "When you look at the people caught up in these events, you see an absence, in many cases, of fathers," Cameron said of the shootings, which have occurred in the last two weeks. The shootings come just as Britain was named as the worst country in the developed world to be a child by a U.N. report. Cameron maintained that fathers and Prime Minister Tony Blair were primarily responsible for the current state of Britain's society and changes had to occur, the report said. He called for increased punishments for absentee fathers to help push them towards financially supporting their children and urged fathers to teach their children responsibility and respect for authority. |
